ROCHELLE, Ill. — If you’re planning to see Union Pacific’s Big Boy during its visit to Rochelle this Tuesday, July 30, the community is doing its best to make reaching its popular railroad park a bit easier.
The Rochelle News-Leader reports the city will offer free shuttle-bus service between downtown parking lots and the railroad park from 8 a.m. to noon. The Big Boy is scheduled to stop at the railroad park from 9:45 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.
The shuttle will operate from municipal lots at North Main Street and Fifth Avenue, Fifth Avenue and North Sixth Street, and Fourth Avenue and North Sixth Street. Local non-profit organizations will be serving breakfast and lunch during the event, and Big Boy T-shirts will be on sale.
Running times and scheduled stops are subject to change. Visit the Rochelle Railroad Park website or its Facebook page for updated information.
Who said the public doesn’t care about rail?
I’ll definitely be watching the webcam that morning to see her come through.
