Greenbrier
LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — Railcar and marine barge manufacturer Greenbrier Cos. has announced a $16 million expansion at its Marmaduke tank car production plant, according to the Arkansas Economic Development Commission.

The facility in northeast Arkansas was part of American Railcar Industries, which Greenbriar purchased last week from hedge fund ITE Management.

Greenbrier is to add 35 employees to the 850 at Marmaduke.

Greenbrier CEO William Furman says the Marmaduke operations would aid in three aspects of the company’s strategic plan: “First, strengthening our core North American engineering and manufacturing business. Next, growing our operations at scale in new and existing markets, and lastly, extending our talent based.”

Also part of the Greenbrier purchase was American Railcar’s hopper car assembly plant in nearby Paragould, Ark., along with facilities in Missouri and Texas.
