ANAHEIM, Calif. — No injuries were reported after a Disneyland Railroad train broke down on a trestle at Galaxy’s Edge Sunday afternoon, the Orange County Register reported.
A Disney-focused blog pegged the breakdown to about 2:45 p.m. The Register and other outlets report that Disneyland’s 2-4-4T No. 5 Ward Kimball, a narrow-gauge steam engine, “blew” an axle in revenue service, shutting down the railroad for the remainder of the day.
The media outlet reports that passengers on the stricken train were pulled back to New Orleans Square, where they were allowed to disembark.
The railroad reportedly resumed regular operations Monday with 10-minute headways serving all stops within Disneyland.
Galaxy’s Edge is the newest major attraction to Disney theme parks based on the popular Star Wars series of films.
There’s no report, yet, on the status of the Ward Kimball.
Walt Disney and Ward Kimball, who were both big rail fans, must be spinning in their graves.
What, no comments about how PSR or HH are the real train for this breakdown?!
