HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – CSX Transportation’s “Spirit of our Law Enforcement” commemorative locomotive is being unveiled today at the company’s Huntington locomotive shop. CSXT 3194 is being renamed to honor our nation’s police officers who dedicate their lives to serve and protect communities across our network.

“CSX is proud of the employee craftsmanship involved in transforming this locomotive into a special commemorative engine,” says Ed Harris, executive vice president of operations. “This is a moving tribute to the men and women who serve us every day and aligns with CSX’s goal to connect military service members, first responders, and their families to the resources and support they need.”

The Spirit of our Law Enforcement joins our collection of Pride in Service locomotives launched this spring – the Spirit of our Armed Forces and the Spirit of our First Responders. When not actively moving customers’ freight, the locomotives are made available for special events along the CSX system – extending our culture of service and commitment from our customers to the communities where we operate.

Each locomotive is painted to honor the five CSX Pride in Service partners and to promote the CSX Pride in Service program, a signature community investment initiative with a goal of positively impacting 100,000 military service members, veterans, first responders and their families by 2020.

  1. Both CSX Transportation and Norfolk Southern Railway can both have colourful paint schemes produced for their general locomotive fleets if they have the desire and creativity to do so. They should follow the fine examples set by FEC, Kansas City Southern, and BNSF with their elaborate colourful paint schemes. Bland solid paint schemes with just road lettering was the trend in the late 1950’s and 60’s.

  2. So, Does this mean that it will be be on the West Shore Line? I know, Shore Line. I hope to see it in my town, Bergenfield, NJ

  3. CSX cares more about the public perception the company supports Law Enforcement when their own actions of laying off so many CSX Special Agents in 2017 is evidence of how the company truly supports Law Enforcement, any department but their own.

  4. Beautiful job CSX! Kudos for recognizing the men and women who risk there lives daily to protect all of us.

  5. As a 30 year retired law enforcement officer, thank you CSX. Officers have a tough job & threatened regularly with plenty of media & politicians second guessing everything officers do in a split second. Be safe out there my blue brothers.

  6. If CSX cared so much for Law enforcement why did they lay off half of their police department 2 1/2 yrs ago? CAN? Any responses?

  7. If CSX cared so much about Law Enforcement why did they lay off half of their police department 2 1/2 years ago? CSX? Any response?

  8. I’d just like to see some creative paint schemes (other than graffiti vandalism) on CSX freight cars. The basic CSX blue boxcar has remained unchanged since its 1986 introduction. CSX has a great logo with “How Tomorrow Moves.” Use it CSX!
