Classic Metal Works/CMW Holdings Ltd., producer of the Mini Metals line of HO and N scale vehicles, has entered into a 5-year licensing agreement with Round 2 LLC. After that term CMW Holdings Ltd. may agree to re-lease to Round 2 or sell the Classic Metal Works brands and its assets to Round 2.

William J. Giacci, president and CEO of Classic Metal Works, said that finding contract manufacturers in China, coupled with high prices and late shipments, led CMW Holdings Ltd. to look for a business partner.

“The solution was to join forces with a qualified U.S. company,” Giacci said. “Tom Lowe [president and CEO of Round 2] and the entire Round 2 team understand every facet of the business of hobbies, but most importantly they understand our current and future consumer.”

Lowe added, “We’ve already made plans to hit the ground running with more new products and tooling in the pipe line.”

Giacci will continue to be the managing partner for CMW Holdings Ltd. He will be a product development, marketing, and sales consultant to Round 2. Mini Metals will continue to be packaged under the Classic Metal Works brand.

  1. Not intending to talk politics but why can’t the CMW product line be manufactured in the USA? It appears that the current administration in Washington DC is offering tax break incentives for companies whose production is outside America to relocate back to the States. With so many abandoned factories across the country I’m sure most states would even offer long term tax break deals to CMW as well!
