SEATTLE — Sound Transit is planning a series of community “drop-in sessions” to consider how it might spend almost a billion dollars to improve Sounder commuter train service on its line from Seattle to Lakewood, Wash.
The money comes from a ballot measure approved by voters in 2016. The Tacoma News-Tribune reports that improvements under consideration include:
— Expanding current seven-car trains to 10 cars, which would require work to extend station platforms.
— Additional trains.
— Extending service south to Tillicum and DuPont.
The first three of the sessions are scheduled for Tuesday, at the Lakewood Farmer’s Market and Sounder stations in Auburn and Lakewood. More information is available at the Sound Transit website.
