HAGENBERG, Austria — Track Machines Connected (TMC) launched its business today, taking over the former Plasser & Theurer Connected subsidiary of maintenance-equipment firm Plasser & Theurer.

The new company will add additional services for collection and processing of rail infrastructure data to those offered by P&T Connected, which since its launch in 2017 had worked to develop new digital tools for the recording and analysis of Big Data from track maintenance and construction equipment.

“We get tracks and machines connected by collecting and connecting rail infrastructure data and machine data,” Jochen Nowotny, managing director of TMC, said in a release announcing the new firm. “This allows us to provide infrastructure operators and machine operators with reliable recommendations for action. Connecting the data is crucial as it creates the basis for the maintenance strategy of the future.”

TMC says the company includes 50 experts from fields such as track technology, software development, software engineering, physics, mathematics, and statistics. The company is based on the Hagenberg campus of the University of Applied Sciences Upper Austria.

  1. The title of this article has a massive typo. It should say ‘Track Connected Machines’ not ‘Track Collected Machines’
