Weekend track work interrupts Coaster, Pacific Surfliner service NEWSWIRE

SAN DIEGO — Amtrak Pacific Surfliner and Coaster commuter train service will not operate this weekend and next to allow the North County Transit District to perform track work on the route between San Diego and Oceanside, Calif.

Schedule changes begin on Friday, both today and on Oct. 25, with the cancellation of Pacific Surfliner train 590, the 7:21 p.m. departure from Los Angeles for San Diego.

On Saturdays and Sundays, Oct. 19-20 and Oct. 26-27, no Coaster service will operate. Amtrak trains 562, 578, 583, 591, 1565, 1566, 1569, 1572, 1573 and 1590 will be cancelled; southbound train No. 782 will terminate at Los Angeles with no alternate transportation provided, while southbound train No. 796 will terminate at Los Angeles with bus service provided for all missed stops. Southbound trains 580, 768, 774, 792, 1564, and 1584 will operate to Irvine, with bus service to San Diego; northbound trains 593, 595, 763, 777, 785, 579, 1761, and 1767 will originate in Irvine, with bus connections from San Diego, except for train 1761.
