Your comment that Doyle McCormick will be retiring is probably true, but I’ll bet he still get’s behind the throttle during the Christmas trips that 4449 makes up & down the Willamette river & thru Oaks Park. I’ll bet he will always have a soft spot for the engine that has occupied so much of his life. The mighty 4449!

  2. Looks like Jim had a great time out in Oregon. I hope he took some video to show more of the skookum. If not then maybe when she gets to her new home in California. I was surprised you guys didn’t know about the derailment UP had on their line between between Spokane and Walula gap. Inside a tunnel out in the scablands of eastern Wa. Don’t feel bad, I live in Spokane and even I didn’t know there was a tunnel out there. I’m sure that at some point & time UP will “daylight” this tunnel and make sure their track is fully up to mainline standards to keep any more derailments from occurring out there.
