Choke point closes both Red Line branches, Ashmont and Braintree/ Quincy. Interestingly (interesting to me anyway) is that the area was built twice, once for the original Quincy trains in the 1970’s, then soon afterwards rebuilt so the Quincy trains could serve JFK/ UMass rather than bypassing that station (then known as Columbia, later renamed JFK/ UMass). Quite a few MBTA transit stations have been renamed over the years. Example (among many) the Atlantic station on the Blue Line was renamed Aquarium.
