Truck driver killed, NS train derailed in grade-crossing accident NEWSWIRE

GERMANTOWN, Tenn. — The driver of the truck was killed and a Norfolk Southern train derailed after the train hit a garbage truck at a grade crossing on Thursday.

40-year-old Marco Brooks of Memphis died after being airlifted to Regional One Hospital in critical conditions, the Germantown Police department told WATN-TV News.

Fourteen cars of a 30-car train derailed after striking the truck, WREG-TV reported. Train crew members were uninjured. The accident occurred about 1:40 p.m. and closed a main road, Poplar Pike, for several hours near the accident scene.
