TITUSVILLE, Pa. — Western Pennsylvania diesel heads are celebrating diesel engines and the region’s crude oil heritage with a Diesel Days festival June 22 and 23.

The event, spear-headed by the Oil Creek & Titusville Railroad will offer two days of diesel locomotive-hauled passenger trains, exhibition diesel trucks, and antique diesel engine displays

Locomotives featured for the event are expected to include Oil Creek & Titusville’s Alco S2 Nos. 75 and 85; Montreal Locomotive Works M420W No. 3568; Western New York & Pennsylvania Alco RS3M No. 406; and Lake Shore Railway Historical Society GE 25-tonner No. 1950. The GE is expected to be trucked from the Northeast, Pa., museum to Titusville for the event.

Titusville is home to world’s first successfully drilled oil well. It propelled a boom in crude oil extraction and refinement that enabled the development of diesel fuel used widely in the world today.
