WELLS, Nev.. — A Union Pacific train reportedly carrying grenades and other munitions has derailed near Wells, briefly closing a 6-mile stretch of Interstate 80.
The Elko County Sheriff’s Office reports on its Facebook page that 22 cars derailed, but those carrying munitions were located at the opposite end of the train from the derailed cars. Vegetable oil and alumninum oxide were spilled by the derailed cars, the sheriff’s office reports.
Everyone got a blast out of it. Used to be in Ordnance (ammunition) in the Army, so we made jokes like that; & after being shot @ for Desert Shield/Desert Storm, it was a way to deal w/the situation by developing a gallows, warped sense of humor, as did others, At Ordnance School, whenever someone dropped an object, we’d say “E.O.D.” (the guys that go in & blowup/dispose of unexplored ammo).
Got that straight, guys.
Typical media sensationalism with headlines !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Better headline: Munitions Safe after Train Derails
It seems the headline is misleading in that implied that the cars derailed were carrying munitions.
