CSX logoBALTIMORE — A broken water main is blamed for flooding in Baltimore that caused a derailment of a CSX train and stopped CSX and MARC commuter trains on Monday.

The broken main near the M&T Stadium, home of the NFL Baltimore Ravens, flooded CSX’s Howard Street tunnel and was blamed for derailment of three cars, according to the Baltimore Fishbowl website. The flooding also stopped MARC commuter service to the Camden Yards station, but a MARC service advisory today says service has resumed.

Amtrak experienced its own flooding problems Monday because of severe weather near Washington, D.C., but the Amtrak Northeast Alerts Twitter feed indicates most trains are operating normally this morning.
