MONTREAL — Canadian Pacific will build a new transload terminal in Montreal, with the first phase of the project to open in June 2020.

The 118,000-square-foot facility, to be operated by Quebec-based transportation and warehousing firm TYT Group, will be served by more than 4,000 feet of existing track at CP’s Cote Saint-Luc Yard. It will have the ability to handle up to 18 railcars indoors, allowing year-round protection from the elements.

“This project enhances our footprint in the Montreal area,” CP Executive Vice-President and Chief Marketing Offier John Brooks said in a press release, “by building capacity and expanding our ability to provide customers with value beyond rail, through trucking and transload services.”

  1. Good to see CP investing in the East again after essentially exiting Quebec 20 years ago. It’s interesting the the roads that implemented PSR first are realizing that you can’t cut forever and expect to be profitable.

  2. A good sign; the second EHH disaster is finally recovering. Now let’s see how long, and how much lost customer confidence, it takes to bring the others to face reality.

  3. Good to see a railway company investing to increase business and improve customer service instead of laying off employees and losing business.
