— The Associated Press reports that Virginia’s House of Delegates is scheduled to vote next week on a transportation bill that includes creation of the Virginia Passenger Rail Authority, to oversee state rail operations.

— As part of its efforts to find alternative funding, the Southeast Pennsylvania has sold naming rights to its University City Station in a $3.3 million deal, the Philadelphia Inquirer reports. The station will now be known as Penn Medicine Station.

— The mayor of Mobile, Ala., says he expects the city council to “get to yes” on its forthcoming vote to support the return of Amtrak service to the Gulf Coast, WALA-TV reports.

— New York’s Metropolitan Transportation Authority has released a schedule for $8.8 billion in capital construction work based on previous financial commitments.

— In England, rail operator Arriva is being stripped of its franchise for Northern Rail, which will pass to government control on March 1, the BBC reports.
