John Flann developed a novel car-forwarding system for his Clark Fork RR that used playing cards. He wrote about the system in Great Model Railroads and Model Railroad Planning.
John Flann, a noted British and North American model railroader, died in March.

A native of England, John was an award-winning modeler and author. When he retired in 1990, he emigrated to the United States with his wife, Jeanne, to be closer to their sons, Christopher and Nicholas, and their families.

John’s HO scale Clark Fork RR was featured in Great Model Railroads 2000. His byline also appeared in the 2003, 2009, and 2011 issues of Model Railroad Planning.
