Q I was watching a professional golf tournament being played in Cromwell, Conn., just south of Hartford. Who owns the rail line that passes between the 13th hole and the Connecticut River? – David Mitchell, Franklin, Texas
A The tournament you were watching was probably being played at the TPC River Highlands, which hosts PGA Tour golf, and the rail line belongs to the Providence & Worcester Railroad. P&W is a Class II railroad based in Worcester, Mass., and operating in Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Connecticut, and New York. The railroad hauls a variety of freight, including coal, ethanol, food products, and intermodal over a 545-mile system. The railroad uses mostly 4-axle motive power from both GE and EMD, but added a leased SD60 to its roster in 2011. – Kathi Kube
