Comments: Another series of HO scale contemporary general-service insulated tank cars has been released by Atlas. These 25,500-gallon cars represent common prototypes built by TrinityRail Corp.

The models come assembled with six different detail variations that match specific prototypes. Each car includes acetal plastic double-shelf knuckle couplers mounted at the correct height. The roller-bearing trucks have scale 36″ metal RP-25 contour wheels that are mounted in gauge. Our sample matched the National Model Railroad Association’s recommended weight.

This model has a detailed styrene carbody with individually applied plastic and wire details. The dome and end platforms have see-through gratings, and the safety bars and brake rigging are well done.

The paint is smoothly applied. All of the printed lettering is clear and opaque. Three car numbers are available in each road name.

As general-service cars, these superbly detailed models will be useful for many jobs on a modern-era HO railroad.
