Description: plastic ready-to-run N scale test car
Comments: Modelers in N scale now have an excellent scale test car. These cars helped calibrate scales during car loading.

Our sample came decorated in Baltimore & Ohio/CSX livery. All lettering, including the smallest stencils, is straight and clear.

The model’s dimensions match drawings found in the 1946 Simmons-Boardman Car Builder’s Cyclopedia for an 80,000 lb. scale test car. Details match a prototype used on the B&O into the CSX-era. The handrail and brake staff are separately applied and are quite fragile.

The model has plastic wheelsets mounted in gauge and Magne-Matic couplers mounted at the correct height, according to NMRA standards. Weighing .25 ounces, the car is lighter than the .65 ounce weight suggested by NMRA RP-20.1.

This model provides N scalers with an interesting addition to their freight car fleets.
