Comments: A contemporary 52-foot Trinity hi-cube plug-door boxcar has been released in N scale by ExactRail. It represents a high capacity prototype built by TrinityRail Corp. to haul heavy rolls of printing paper. The model is sold assembled and ready-to-run in a variety of realistic paint schemes.

This model has a detailed styrene carbody with most of its details cast in place. The air brake system, brakewheel, roof, and underframe are well done and individually applied.

The boxcar rides on Athearn 100-ton roller-bearing trucks fitted with ExactRail’s machined metal RP-25 contour 36″ wheelsets, mounted in gauge. McHenry magnetic knuckle couplers are truck mounted at the proper height. Our sample matched the National Model Railroad Association’s recommended weight.

The paint application is smooth and the car’s printed lettering is clear and opaque. Three car numbers are
avail- able in each road name.

This model captures the look and proportions of its prototype. It will certainly look great any modern-era layout that serves a paper mill or a commercial printing plant.
