Boy, what a difference a day can make. Let me back up a bit and fill you in on a big change in my life. Well, at least my “hobby life”. I model N-Scale, and really enjoy the building of models for my layout. I use an airbrush to paint most everything, as I really like the consistently smooth finish it produces.

For equipment, I have been using an Aztec airbrush set and an Aztec “Little Blue” compressor. When I started using my Aztec airbrush set I would do a little spraying every “once in a while”. The “Little Blue” compressor worked just fine as long as I didn’t do too much painting. As time went on, I found I was doing more painting than the wonderful little compressor was ever designed for.

At long last, I decided something had to change. I just wasn’t getting the performance I wanted and needed. And along came the Aztec AC500 compressor! Wow…. What a machine! I know a lot of guys that would get all excided about a new car or the likes. Not me! But this new compressor sure got me excited!

This Aztec compressor not only looks great, but also works just fantastic! This unit has a long list of features that make it one of the finest compressors on the market.

To start, the entire unit is a tough and rugged little package. There is a rather large storage tank on the bottom on the unit that takes care of any annoying pressure fluctuations during painting. Built in as part of the storage tank, there is an overpressure valve on the end and a water drain on the bottom. The compressor has a handy on/off switch mounted on the side for easy use. There is also an air pressure switch, which makes the compressor run only when needed. This is a very good feature!

Lets talk numbers: This Aztec AC500 has a 1/8th HP motor, a 60psi maximum pressure, a flow rate of .6cfm at 20psi, and a nice long warranty. In addition, the unit comes complete with a clear moisture trap and pressure regulator with gauge! Throw in the handy handle and what else could you want?

After I set up the unit, I just had to give it a try. From the first moment I turned on the compressor I was hooked. This unit is quite, solid, and reliable. The airflow is much more than I could ever use with my airbrush, and the air pressure was very consistent. I found the pressure regulator to be a joy. I never knew how much I was missing!

All in all, this Aztec AC500 air compressor is one wonderful unit. It looks good, and it works just wonderfully. My only regret is that I should have had one of these compressors years ago. My suggestion is that you don’t put up with your old compressor as long as I did mine. If you can’t find one of these Aztec AC500 compressors at your local store, you might want to go directly to the source at www.testors.com. You won’t be sorry you got one of these!
