Jerry Davis’ O scale model railroad depicts the famed Tehachapi Loop during the early 1950s. Watch steam and diesel locomotives haul freight and passenger trains along the line.

  1. The layout was terrific. Though it may be "O" gauge it appears to be "HO" gauge. Nice sequence of passenger train over-riding freight—You will not see that sequence with UP and Amtrak in real life. NE Corrider is the only place I've heard that happens-during rush-hours.

  2. It was actually quite common for Black Widows to pull Daylights. A great film clip of that can be found in the movie "Bad Day at Black Rock." I also remember seeing that combination passing through Springfield, OR, on a daily basis when I was a boy. This is a beautiful layout.

  3. At the beginning of the video, as much as I love trains, the first thing that caught my eye was the bronze 1950 Studebaker Starlight Coupe parked at the station! Too many modelers forget that before the 1960s American automobile brands Studebaker, Nash, Hudson, Packard, and DeSoto were as common as Toyota, Honda, and Hyundai are today. When modeling pre-1960 eras for true realism remember to place a few of these defunct automobile brands alongside the Chevys and Fords. Hint: it was very common to see Studebaker trucks on rural roads … they were very popular with farmers!

  4. Unusual seeing F units in Black Widow pulling a Daylight train. Noticed a bit of extraneous background noise as the cab-forward was coming into the scene; otherwise, an excellent, if short, representation of a good looking layout. And thankfully the "Great One" did not come out of the pit.
