The K&M Subdivision is the third incarnation of influential model railroader Allen McClelland’s HO scale Virginian & Ohio. The model train layout is actually part of Gerry Albers’ Virginian Ry. Deepwater District. To read about the latest version of the V&O, be sure to check out Great Model Railroads 2014.

  1. So great to see the V&O back in action and the superb modeling of Allen McClelland showcased in this video and in GMR 2014. Mention was made in a couple of posts of "Santa Fe" F units at the beginning of the video, but I think those are actually blue and yellow Virginian F units on a run through from Gerry Albers Virginian.

  2. Along with the article in "Great Model Railroads of 2014," I was very pleased to see Allen McClelland and the V&O are still active. Hopefully. with the help of ,many friends, Allen will be able to complete the V&O to Dayton. I would not hesitate compare the V&O with the G&D.

  3. I believe those where Santa Fe F units rumbling down the track? nice to see units from far off roads working through the V&O, gives it flavor of a true RR with interchange and track passage rights, gota love seeing the caboose, I miss those signature details of railroading back-in the day

  4. I especially like how the scenery blends in to the backdrop throughout this video; it is so realistic and, in fact, inspires me!

  5. His backdrop has caught the smoke in the smokies, I remember the old layout when I lived in Springfield.

  6. While the layout looks fantastic, you are only seeing the tip of the iceberg. What makes this layout truly exceptional is the operating scheme. Mr. Albers has set a new standard in prototypical operations that you would have to experience to appreciate. His operating sessions are second to none. Every element is truly first-class, and always improving. Just when you think it can't possibly get any better, it does.

  7. The V&O go along with the greats of model railroading. I have been a long time follower of MR (over sixty years) and I have had the pleasure of reading and following the magazine stories of the great model railroads.
Please keep up the great work in story and picture form.
Apleasure to give a BIG 5

  8. Operated on that layout and the whole layout is superb. Allen has been a,t the layout every time I have been there dispatching the V&O. Thanks Allen and Gerry for the chance to run on a great railroad. Excellent video .

  9. Beautiful Layout!!! Oh How it takes me back to the visits in that area. That is one part of our country that just tugs at you to return.
