Jack Parker’s HO scale Piedmont & Western RR features stunning Appalachian Mountain scenery. See trains run along the layout that’s also featured in the May 2018 Model Railroader.

  1. The scenery is excellent! The slow moving trains may not be prototype, but it’s easier to see the details. Vey well done!

  2. Rather surprised at the short length of the freights, given the power of the train locos pulling them.

  3. This is a great layout I have had the pleasure of operating many times. Jack Parker is a most gracious host and friend to all.

  4. Beautiful realistic action but this video is low resolution on my computer. Is this an old video or was it downgraded for the website?

  5. Great railroad. I enjoyed watching the video. I too don’t care for the music, so I just turn down the volume and enjoy the video.

  6. Hi guys,
Sometimes there is no locomotive sound with these videos, so we put music in to fill the dead air/background chatter.

  7. I’ll second Mark’s comments about the music. I would guess from the last sequence that this railroad is doing its best to discourage passenger service. Note all the people on the platform waiting for the train, and when it comes it doesn’t stop. Sign of the times? Or waiting 40 or more years for Amtrak?

  8. I’d rather hear the steam sounds from the locomotives than music! However, it is wonderful layout and thanks for sharing!
