Each year Model Railroader’s staff organizes a Saturday driving tour to visit model train layouts built by staff members, former staff members, and other Kalmbach Publishing Co. employees. In part 2, you’ll see the last three stops of the day, including Model Railroader associate editor Steve Otte’s HO scale Cincinnati, Lebanon & Northern, N Scale Insight columnist Jim Kelly’s N scale Southern Pacific Tehachapi Pass, and Model Railroader Video Plus producer David Popp’s N scale Naugatuck Valley.
Just great, as always; so nice to see what Kelly, Popp, Otte & everyone else at MR are doing at home … it's kind of like spending a few minutes with 'old friends' I've never actually met — your usual fine presentation, MR!

The progress was always one of my favorite days of the year when I was on the staff. Who knows, maybe someday I'll brave the Wisconsin winter and join you guys for one. Be sure to eat hearty, lest you end up paying $12.00 for a cup of tea and an English muffin….

I enjoyed part two of the MR visit. I enjoyed Jim Kelly's Tehachapi Loop, as I still occasionally railfan there on drives between northern CA and southern CA. I also liked his model of the Sunkist Orange packing plant. I'm hoping to eventually make this model too. I also enjoyed David Popp's N scale Naugutuck Valley railroad. Unfortunately I can't make it to Milwaukee for the N scale convention, however if I did I'd sure make the effort to see Davids layout. Hey David, for those seeing your layout, do they get to run slotcars too, and is it 1/32 or 1/24th scale? I couldn't tell. Thanks again for a great 2013 visit. I also enjoy these every year.

I am a huge supporter of Model Railroader but I must admit that my first impressions of this new Video Plus have been a bit of a disappointment. All of the video layout tours are the same as the ones I already have access to with my MR subscription. It is also disconcerting that the audio and the video are not in sync when the heads are talking. Hope these are just 'growing pains' for this new venture.

Very nice video! Hope to view more as I'm working on a 5×12 layout in my small basement. Need to learn a lot more and this is the way to do it.
These are great videos to look at just wish they could be longer so many layouts to look at just could not get enough. Will you have any videos on weathering rolling stock, structures, track and locomotives? Thanks enjoyed the videos

I hope Mr. Popp learns that the NH operated their RS-3's long hood front. Other than that a nice New England layout.

I enjoyed David's layout – I like the scale and his choice of setting. I agree with Richard's comment – it is helpful to a beginner to see the "pros" have to budget their time and money as well, and that many things are far from perfect at most times. I guess it is true, layouts are never done.
Really interesting layouts. Adding another minute to view each layout would help us absorb track layout, benchwork and lighting. Suggestion: when recording spokesperson, kindly ask others to lower talk volume as basement reflects sound and washes out what is being said. Thank you.
The sound was poor. The trains were great.
I have to say I enjoy watching these from each year to remind me the editors are human too and all of your layouts aren't finished instantly at museum level!
Looking forward to seeing much more of Steve Otte's layout! Yay Early Rail!
I love these layout visits each year. One day I'll finally start building my layout instead of buying trains to finish one.
