Check out the Athearn Trains Genesis-series model of the Santa Fe “Topeka cab” GP7. The HO scale locomotive model captures the road number-specific details of its prototype. Model Railroader senior editor Dana Kawala will also show you some of the highlights of the locomotive’s factory-installed SoundTraxx Tsunami Digital Command Control (DCC) sound decoder.

  1. Anyone know the vendor of the brick passenger station in this video? It's very close to an N&W prototype I need for a location I'm modeling, definitely close enough for the stand-in until I can scratch build one, or as a starting point for a kitbash. Also, nice review, and I will definitely be buying a few to be painted in Clinchfield livery after this review.

  2. Got to tell you, Dana, your train handling is improving; no "shake the grates" couplings. The sound could still be improved by turning up the horn volume, hard to hear over the prime mover and the bell. The engine is a neat up-grade on a proven model.
