Good review. I know the control pack is actually a Digitrax controller (the astute observer might have seen the two Loconet ports on the back of the controller). While the Digitrax web site has good info about the controller, neither Walthers nor Digitrax say anything about the decoder in the engine. Is it a Digitrax decoder or another brand?
This was great advise for someone like me first getting involved with DCC.

I like this set but would perfer nickle silver track and a sound equiped loco
For the price I would expect nickel silver rail, a spur track with turnout and a modern boxcar. Roofwalks were elminated by a FRA mandate back in the 70s! I will save my money. Athearn offered better HO sets in the 60s with Atlas brass track!
