  1. Great looking model with those massive drivers and extended tender. But I'd stuff some cotton batting in the tender to try to minimize the hollowness of the sound. I'd wait to see how many show up on their refurbished sale list before purchasing out of the first manufacturing run too.

  2. beautiful presentation of a big mainline locomotive that I was lucky enough to ride behind when I was discharged from military service, horseshoe curve included. Modelers will be very satisfied with this on there layouts Let the trains keep rolling

  3. This engine is an interesting concept. It makes one wonder why since the 4-8-4 Northern was already established. Now that would be an interesting engine; the 4-8-4 with the T-1 body design. No need to change the tender. And who said it absolutely had to have 72" or larger drivers?
I'll go along with Todd Rogers's comments about the whistle sounds. Wonder where BLI got the one they used for this engine. Kind of weak to my old ears.

  4. I'm not a big fan of steam. but even I noticed the drivers are out of sync. And a little more lighting could have been on the locomotive to better see the details.

  5. I have always wanted one of these even through I am not a PRR modeler. I agree with Tim Stuck above, the whistle has got to go. A good example is on YouTube "MD Whistles PRR 3 Chime". It is a PRR 3 chime mounted on tourist log train. Great sounds echoing off the hills. It is a much better sounding whistle and I would assume the PRR execs back in the day would agree. Wikipedia also indicated that this type whistle was used on all 50 production units. I wonder if there is a way to change the whistle on this new model.

  6. This model runs faultlessly and has another whistle included which is much better. It includes back EMF for optimum control and repeatability. It also chufs smoke in time with the sound and driver position. A great addition to the Paragon II series from Broadway Limited. Anyone want to buy a brass version?

  7. Great review of the Paragon2 HO scale Pennsylvania RR T1 – enjoyed the detailed sounds of various components as the engine go from boarding passengers to high speed travel.

    Excellent Video!

  8. Love a Sharknose…..it did look a little "jerky" but I've noticed that on most of the review vids.
Whether it is the actual layout or the camera itself, I don't know. I do know all these models cannot be jerky runners….those bad old days are pretty much gone I think

  9. Not impressed with the sound, and why do MR always do jerky instead of smooth starts?

  10. I agree with Matthew, the voice announcements can go. The engine is very nice looking, but just think about how great it'll look when weathered!

  11. A nice looking loco. But the sound is almost the same as my 4-6-4 New York Central, minus the reverb. I agree with one other gentleman sound quality is fair at best.

  12. I just got my T-1 two months ago and found it to be a smooth starter and stopper with nice sounds and great pulling power, no shortage of CVs and in the 'as delivered" livery, one of the all time best looking modern steamers riding the iron. Glad I made the investment.

  13. I agree with most comments here. Great video! Beautiful engine! I've always wanted a T-1 (probably late version) even though it wouldn't fit my freelanced scheme. But I won't be buying the BLI version with that horrible, synthesized Banshee whistle. It really curdles my milk. A repeated blast cuts off the previous blast like a toy train. I'm sure BLI could have done better with this, esp. for such a notable PRR engine.
