An electric multiple-unit trainset for the Metropolitan Transportation Authority’s Metro-North Railroad is hardly an everyday sight in suburban Chicago. This train of four Metro-North M8 railcars passed through Elmhurst, Ill., on the Union Pacific last Friday. The cars, en route to the New York area from Kawasaki Rail Car’s plant in Lincoln., Neb., are part of a 60-car order currently under construction. That group of cars was added to the original 405-car order completed in 2015.
