Q: Ray, I have a Lionel no. 315 bridge with a red light on top. The light doesn’t work due to the light socket, which rests in a sort-of black square holder that’s corroded. I have checked several hobby parts sites but can’t seem to find the part number for a replacement part. Do you think you might be able to find out what the part number is? I would like to get the bulb lit again. Thanks. – Harry Lambert, West Warwick, R.I.

A: Harry, documentation of prewar part numbers is pretty spotty, but I checked Greenberg’s Guide to Prewar Parts and was able to find the information. It lists the following for the 315:

– 88-2 binding post nut
– 152-33 lamp
– 315-6 top stringer
– 315-7 wire brace
– 315-11 insulation plate assembly
– 315-15 lamp lead assembly
– R-68 red jeweled cap

Hopefully, Harry, this information will help you get that great old bridge flashing again!
