Students at Seaview Elementary School in Linwood, New Jersey are getting into the holiday spirit this year—using toy trains.
The school, along with assistance from one of the community’s families, the McBrides and their daughter Alice, is coming together to design and create a “winter wonderland” themed train layout.
The project will display a winter landscape constructed mainly from supplies at the school. The students, ages five to 10, have been building the table with limited adult assistance from the school’s Related Arts teachers, the team overseeing the project.
The layout will feature a Lionel locomotive from the MPC General Mills era and a reproduction MTH LeLand-Detroit Monorail running on FasTrack.
“This is a fantastic opportunity to ignite a passion for model trains within our students and demonstrate the limitless potential of working together to achieve a common goal,” said art teacher Dominic Andrews.
An excellent way for the kids to learn and have fun. And it is a great way to encourage the hobby.
