HELP MOVE THE HEAVIES: Atlas O’s 52½-foot war emergency gondolas are in stores now. The cars were a wartime workaround for a shortage of cars able to carry long and heavy materials. Wood was substituted for steel wherever possible, and these were rated at a 70-ton capacity. The gondolas have scale dimensions and die-cast-metal trucks and couplers, and require O-42 or wider-diameter track.
