THIS MODEL IS THE THIRD OUTING for the UK-outline tooling created for the movie-related Hogwarts Express from the Harry Potter book and movie series. The second product was the Shakespeare Express (based on a British excursion train of the same name).

  1. Nice engine! Something to be said for simplicity, tipical British style
engine, wish Lionel would follow MTH & offer some beautiful
    European locomotives in the future.

  2. Ron G., I have this train and it smokes well… in nice synchronized puffs. They are almost perfect smoke rings sometimes.

  3. Hey Bob I don't know if it's prototypical but the Brits have a "Southern" railway too. The green and the logo is not too far off from ours. [Becuse the SRR president liked the green paint job on a trip to England.] It would look good!

  4. Bob,
I think I would 'squirrel it away' for Christmas of 2010, not 2011. I like that you've started to do something additional to the layout.
    Keep it up.

  5. I had major doubts about adding this to my North Pole Central layout, which is annually on display at the VAMC where I work. It is up from Thanksgiving until the first workday of January. Then it is back to a freight set and C&O passenger set for the remain 46 weeks.

I read Bob's review, then watched the video, Wow now I must get one for the Christmas layout. No more doubts here, that engine looks good.
