  1. Very nice video. Wonder what makes the 252 bounce for the U.P. train but not the other one — both tracks activate it, but it is working normally for the outside loop's train, and not the inside loop.

  2. I was an HO guy, but now at my age this scale is to hard to handle. This shows the real fun of toy trains and scale mixed together. Great layout & track plan. JOE

  3. This is a great layout, this may motivate me to completely redo mine. Between this and the 146 layout I think I'm ready. Many thanks. Wes Altman, Johnstown, PA

  4. One of the nicest layout videos I've seen. That 0-8-0… is that the scale version or an up-graded toy version?

  5. Nice clean look to the layout-really enjoyed it! Lots of great ideas for all of us-thanks for sharing!! It also proves my belief that a layout does not have to be massive or totally high rail to be enjoyable!

  6. I really liked this video-congrats on a very nice design. Is it possible for me to get a track plan? This would look great in my spare bedroom! Thank you.

  7. Great layout, there is just something about a train on a trestle. A lot of action and pleasing to eye.

The doors are fastened together and rest on wall supports. I can slide the layout about 2' from the window to gain access to the back side.

I used wood screws to fasten the 1" dowels to the upper platform (3/8" plywood). Since the table is composed of hollow closet doors, I drilled a 1" hole through the top and pushed the dowel to the lower panel and secured with wood screws.

I thank everyone for your Comments.

  9. Great layout Barri. Very well done , I like the way you handle the speed of the running trains. realistic. keep enjoying it all.

  10. Good looking layout!! May I suggest one thing though. The crossing gate bouncing needs to stay down as the train passes by. Using Depotonincs WatchmanII-B control with a timer circuit built into it will keep the gate down until the train completely passes by. Also, operating the gate with DC voltage will take away the humming noise associate with it being in the down position too long. Contact me if you need any more info @mworek1@comcast.net. Thanks for sharing your layout with us.

  11. I just wish the article included a better diagram of track locations so I could try to build layout in my basement

  12. outstanding. This layout is exactly the layout I planned. I would like to know the method used to fasten the dowels to the upper track platform and to the lower table. This is important in order to keep the upper track stable.
