D-146 Lionel display layout in action

The D-146 Lionel dealer display project railroad is complete! Enjoy this video of trains in action on this O gauge postwar layout.
simplicity in design, action, and travel variation make for an exciting layout.
D-146 falls short of a great layout because it has only one travel CHOICE.
i like the use of O-27 track; it's my choice of trackages.

THAT RAISES A QUESTION which plagues the start of my first layout.
i have acquired MTH's remote control system for its R/C sets with proto-2.
HOWEVER, i don't like MTH track's inflexability; i can cut O-27 to my will.
AGAIN however, i don't know how to connect the two.
SO, my only idea is to connect the MTH power track to my O-27 trackage.
SAME would apply for my R/C Lionel Thomas power track.

Fun layout, maybe you need a child or grandchild to help the cows get into the stock car ( when I got my first one in the fifties I was there with my four year old fingers to help any lazy cows into the car). Very enjoyable!

Looks like a real fun layout and nice equipment.
Excellent video. Music background and clickety-clack are okay, but I would suggest having the loco puffing smoke and steam whistle sounding at grade crossings. Also, you feature the conveyor log loader moving logs from a train car off-load point, but not shown are the logs being uploaded into a truck, a scene that would highlight the versatility of this accessory.

Many thanks … you've given me some ideas for a small layout suitable for visits to children's hospital so kids can play with the trains and take their minds off other matters at hand. Operating accessories are sure to please, as Lionel's founding father knew very well.

Happy to see you added more scenery details than what the factory would have. I dug out my set from 1955 and am planning on a layout, while still working on my HO and N scale
As always I only get a black screen with a circle going round in the center.
Very nice video, with the exception of the sis boom bang ting clang bang zoom introductory sounds.

This is the prime example of what really exploded the love of toy trains. Lionel toy trains.
They were toys to be played with. Pure fun and enjoyment. Now they seem to want to join the O scale crowd and watch everything crawl along and ho hum, boring stuff.
The old troy trains will always be the best that Lionel ever did. After all where in the world did you find all that workmanship in 1910, 1920 and even 1939.
Lionel.. An incredible corporation and now that I am 66, just over 50 years of pure love.. Thanks for your videos. They make being a collector/operator a lot more fun..

I actually lived in the early 50's and had the milk car and cattle car on my layout. Too bad I was only 12 years old and couldn't afford anything. Now I'm 74 and still can't afford much. Good Job on this layout. Keep up the good work.

Hi Guys, Great layout!! Try the cows going the other direction…. They work better that way as the guides are set up to "funnel" the cows as they move counter clockwise. Plus the ramps should be adjusted so the cow will drop smoothly off the platform into the car, then back onto platform as they exit. Also the cattle car "stopper" bar inside the car that stops the cows from coming out stores some cows inside the car if you go counter clockwise. Simply close the sliding door to keep cows from exiting.
At the same time if you take some sandpaper & rub crosswise on the runways on corral & in car, it gives the runways some tooth for the cow's fingers to push against. Of course you can see the sanding lines, so on a pristine collector corral, I wouldn't do that.

I run my MTH railking SD70ACe on Lionle fastrack, but I really love the look of this layout! HUM…….I think I'll be focusing more on this look, but I'll still keep my SD70ace! LOL Thanks CTT for sharing
