Halloween large scale display at trunk or treat event: Many churches and schools host a” trunk or treat” event around Halloween. Folks decorate the trunk of their vehicle to pass out candy for a trick-or-treat event in the parking lot.  I decorated my pickup truck with a large scale Halloween display. The following year, my friend Larry Hunn and I built a display that starts in my truck, traverses a handmade trestle, passes through a graveyard scene in Larry’s SUV,  and then heads back to my truck.

The train passes through a tombstone, and with the help of hidden staging, a different Halloween train emerges. The process continuously repeats. We named it “The Grand Trunk or Treat Railroad.” The next year we added a third train with a Shay on an all trestle railroad.  I think this is a unique and fun way to promote model railroading. Join us for this year’s event if you’re in the area!
