DeAgostini and ModelSpace, 915 Broadway, Suite 609, New York, NY 10010, have announced a kit for Japan’s JNR D51 200 2-8-2 locomotive in 1:24 scale. The ModelSpace D51 model is a replica of the original 1938 locomotive, now housed at Umekoji steam locomotive museum in Kyoto, Japan. The unpainted model comes with a short length of track and base on which to display it. It is constructed primarily of brass, with white-metal die-castings, and includes working lights, a whistle, and steam sound effects. The kit is offered in 12 monthly sections. Stoneworks, PO Box 190, Shell Knob MO 65747, is offering a kit for the famous Fitz Metal Overshot Waterwheel in 1:24 scale (#4040). This wheel claimed 90%+ efficiency with curved paddles and became the wheel of record in the majority of mills and other businesses powered by water. The kit for the 8″ x 2″ wheel includes 24 paddles, brass bushing with a 6″, solid-brass axle, and is assembled with 32 sets of brass screws and bolts. The TX-2s is designed for live-steam locomotives but can also be used with battery powered, radio-controlled locos. Price: $99A ($89US) plus $15A air postage. RCS also has a new ultra-small, combined 2.4 GHz DSM2 RX/3 amp ESC (#BASIC-3). Large Scale Online closed on December 2013, after 18 years online. The website was shut down by DMS, its parent company in Post Falls, Idaho. LSOL was the first site on the Internet dedicated exclusively to large-scale trains. DMS will continue to maintain other garden-train websites, including GardenTrains.com, YouTube.com/GardenTrains, and HowGardenTrainsWork.com

Hartford Large Scale Products
was sold to David and Breda Rhoton of Ozark Miniatures Inc., 3461 S 5225 W, Cedar City UT 84720, last November. Ozark Miniatures plans to reintroduce the full kits of the Hartford line. Bob Hartford will also be designing more kits for the company. Website: www.hartfordproducts.com
