Paul Busse
The first issue of Garden Railways, January 1984, contained a column called “Notes from the Dandy Lines” by Paul Busse. Paul discusses ways to add visual interest to a garden railroad and includes charming hand-drawn illustrations to get his point across. Does Paul’s name sound familiar? He has designed some of the most popular public displays across the country, including the Illinois Botanic Garden and many more.

In the October 2007 issue, we featured the immense Fairplex Garden Railroad in Pomona, California. This 100′ x 300′ railroad is located on the LA County Fairgrounds ans has occupied the same space since 1935. Enjoy a look at what some call the “granddaddy” of garden railroads!

  1. A pity that Garden Railways Fall 2019 issue contains less than 70 pages. I purchased the copy through Kalmbach customer service and paid the full cover price plus international shipping to Germany. I honestly thought when it was announced that GR was going quarterly from a bi-monthly publication we would see an increase of content and number of pages, e.i. at least 80. Not so. I see no reason to renew my current dormant subscription to Garden Railways. I feel ripped off big time! In all respect, a lesson to be learned here is Improve it or loose it. In my case, GR has lost a one time dedicated reader/subscriber. Sorry! Regards, Joseph Toth
