American Z Line to release Z scale Alco PA-1 and PB-1 diesel locomotives

Six-axle passenger units will feature prototype-specific details

American Z Line recently announced that it will be releasing Alco PA-1 and PB-1 diesel locomotives in Z scale. The Denver & Rio Grande Western models are offered as two single PA-1s and two PA-1/PB-1 sets.

American Z Line announced that Alco PA-1 and PB-1 diesel locomotives will be joining the company’s Z scale diesel locomotive lineup. The release date for the six-axle passenger units has yet to be announced.

Initial road names on the Alco diesels are Denver & Rio Grande Western (PA-1 and PA-1/PB-1 set for the California Zephyr) and New York, New Haven & Hartford (PA-1 in the McGinnis scheme). The single PA-1s and PA-1/PB-1 sets will be offered in two road numbers each.

Additional features on the Alco PAs will include prototype-specific details, a 7mm can motor, dual flywheels, directional light-emitting-diode lighting, six-axle trucks with blind (flangeless) middle wheels, blackened metal wheels, traction tires, and an optional snow plow and front coupler cover. The Alco PA-1 and PB-1 models are Digital Command Control ready.
