Rails of Sheffield has announced that it has bought the Hattons brand, allowing the famed company’s legacy to live on for years to come.
Per a statement released by Rails of Sheffield: “We are pleased to annnounce that we have now brought ‘Hattons Model Railways’ into the Rails family!
It was a shock to the modelling world earlier this year, when stalwart of the industry, Hattons, announced that it was to close.
At Rails, we could not allow the legacy of this esteemed brand to disappear and we have sought a way to keep the spirit of Hattons alive.”
In January of 2024, model railroad manufacturer and distributor Hattons announced that they would cease operations after 77 years in business.
While the original Hattons store and business will remain closed, Rails of Sheffield will relaunch the Hattons website and directory, a resource which includes the history of thousands of models and the prototype information which inspired them.
Additionally, in a statement from Hattons CEO Richard Davies and Chairwoman Christine Hatton, it was announced that Hattons former chief content officer Jack Morgan has joined Rails of Sheffield as marketing content manager.

Looking forward to continued good business, but I must say that the hobby lost a great shop and staff when Hatton’s closed, wishing Rails all the success.
Santa came early to the UK, as well.
