Barb A. Packenham, Model Railroader magazines editorial assistant from 1993 through 2006, died on Jan. 24. She was 74.

Odds are good that if you called Model Railroader during those years, you spoke with Barb. She handled a wide variety of tasks for the magazine, including looking up past articles for readers, handling correspondence, and leading tours for visitors.

Barb also rolled up her sleeves and built some Rix houses and contributed scenery to the Alkali Central, our HO scale project layout featured in the December 1995 and January 1996 issues.
