Lloyd “Randy” Kennie, a longtime sales manager in the hobby industry, passed away on April 14, 2019.

Randy served in the Navy as a Radioman 2nd Class in his younger years. After leaving the military, he worked at several companies in the hobby/crafts industry, including Felix V. Bass, Mel Pollack Sales Assoc. and Sbar’s, before being hired at Bachmann Trains as a salesman. He later became Bachmann’s National Sales Manager. His responsibilities at Bachmann included working with independent hobby shops, wholesale distributors, mass market accounts, manufacturing rep groups, and contributing to marketing and product development plans.

Randy’s former coworkers remember that he had a smile for everyone and appreciated his ability to get along with each and every customer. He was always ready with a joke or a story to brighten someone’s day.

Randy also served as National Sales Manager at United Model Distributors, Director of Sales at Life-Like, and Senior Account Executive at Wm. K. Walthers. After Bachmann, he went on to work again for and finally retire from AC Moore/Sbar’s. His business card reflected his great work ethos, with his name appearing as “Randy Kennie, 100%” to signify his complete commitment to his profession.
