Model railroad manufacturer Exactrail has announced a change at the top. Software entrepreneur John Pestana is taking charge of the company’s day-to-day operations as Exactrail’s president and chief executive officer. Previous company head Chris Clune is retiring and “will continue to be a continued source of inspiration and direction for Exactrail’s precision product development team,” the release said.

Pestana is the co-founder of Omniture, a software company based in Orem, Utah. The new model railroad exec helped grow his former company from a student-run operation to a worldwide, publicly traded company with more than 1,200 employees.

Software giant Adobe bought Omniture in November 2009 for $1.8 billion. “This is an exciting time for Exactrail,” Pestana said. “I am both pleased and excited to continue building value to one of the industry’s newest and strongest brands.

  1. I think a lot of us if not all, wish the ExactRail Crew the very best, and may your longevity exceed ours..
Your commitment to excellence and customer wants has been a refreshing new breeze through our past time & hobby.
I have a number of your offerings and they are prized indeed.
Although it is too large a model for my layout I have one of your "Vertipacs" Auto Cars. I had read about these often but had never seen one in our part of the country, so was most interested in getting one if only for a "Shelf Queen" and a point of conversation as none of my friends had ever run across them either. Thanks for all you do !!!!
Look forward to all your new production runs.

  2. This is actually good news, as this will give Chris the time to do what he loves doing the most, designing more great stuff, as opposed to "running the show", looking forward to more great things from ExactRail…!!
