MILWAUKEE — America’s largest operating model railroad show is set for 2025. In a press release sent to Firecrown Media Inc., the National Model Railroad Association (NMRA) announced Milwaukee’s Trainfest will return to the Baird Center Nov. 1-2, 2025. This marks the second-consecutive year the event will be held at the downtown venue.
The NMRA, which will be celebrating its 90th anniversary in 2025, also will be this year’s event producer, accepting the torch from Great American Train Shows, which operated Trainfest in 2022 and 2024 (No shows took place in 2020, 2021, and 2023). Prior to that, the Wisconsin Southeastern (W.I.S.E.) Division of the NMRA established and operated the show.
“Bringing Trainfest back under the NMRA banner in our 90th anniversary year creates a perfect synergy,” said NMRA President Gordy Robinson MMR. “This event represents both our heritage and our future in the model railroading community.”
According to the press release, Trainfest 2025 will include the following at the 170,000-square-foot exhibit space:
- A comprehensive showcase of model railroading layouts and exhibits
- First-ever integrated Railroad Prototype Modelers (RPM) Mini Meet
- Special 90th anniversary NMRA celebrations and exhibits
- Interactive demonstrations and workshops
- Industry-leading vendors and manufacturers
