A new run of Electro-Motive Division SD24 diesel locomotives is available now from Atlas Model Railroad Co. Join Senior Editor Cody Grivno as he hosts a Product Review video of this HO scale six-axle road locomotive. See the details and lighting effects, listen to the sounds from the dual-mode ESU LokSound decoder, and watch it switch an industry on our Milwaukee, Racine & Troy staff layout.

New paint schemes (low short hood unless otherwise noted) on the Master Line model include Burlington Northern (Chicago, Burlington & Quincy patchout with high short hood), Southern Pacific (scarlet and gray, three road numbers), and Union Pacific (Armour Yellow and Harbor Mist Gray with early shield, one number). New road numbers are available on models decorated for Atchison, Topeka & Santa Fe (pinstripe scheme, three numbers); Chicago, Burlington & Quincy (Chinese Red and gray with high short hood); Southern Ry. (black and white with high short hood [one number with herald on short hood, two numbers without]); and Union Pacific (Armour Yellow and Harbor Mist Gray with “We Can Handle It” slogan on cab). Each road name is available in two numbers unless noted.

Features on the Atlas SD24 include prototype-specific details; separate, factory-applied roof piping, windshield wipers, and metal grab irons; golden white light-emitting-diode headlights; a die-cast metal underframe; painted crew figures; plastic handrails; multiple unit and trainline hoses.

Direct-current models with a factory-installed speaker are priced between $179.95 and $199.95. Versions with a dual-mode ESU LokSound sound decoder sell for $289.95 to $309.95. Undecorated models (UP-style with low short hood and Southern Ry.-style with high short hood) are also available.
