Walthers HO scale 86-foot Hi-cube boxcar
Walthers makes absolutely wonderful cars, and this Gold Line model is no exception. The one and only at my local shop, I wanted a car that was long and would challenge my small radius turns. I saw this one, and walked out with a car finally longer than my ancient Athearn SD40-2.

As do all newer locomotives, passenger cars and some freight cars, the 89er came equipped with Proto-Max magnetic knuckle couplers. Just warnings though, if you have 22-inch radius curves, expect the train to struggle at the tightest point of the curve. Overall, a modeler looking for a modern car in the CSX YN3 paint scheme shall have to look no further than Wm K. Walthers.
