Comments: A great-looking HO scale contemporary acid tank
car is now available from Athearn. The 13,600-gallon HO scale car is modeled after a Union Tank Car Co. prototype.
The model comes assembled and ready-to-run with McHenry double-shelf knuckle couplers mounted at the correct height. The roller bearing trucks are fitted with scale 36″ metal RP-25 contour wheels that are mounted in gauge. The coupler heights are correct and the models match the National
Model Railroad Association’s recommended weight.
The car has a well-detailed styrene carbody with individually applied etched-metal and formed-wire details that vary to match the superb paint schemes. Most road names are offered with several different numbers.
Loaded with detail, these distinctive tank cars will add variety to a modern-era HO car fleet.
