Comments: HO scale New England modelers can add an accurate model of a prototype that still stands in rural New Hampshire with the Wolfeboro Freight House from Bollinger Edgerly Scale Trains. This craftsman kit comes with laser-cut scribed wood siding, milled stripwood, self-adhesive paperboard shingles, Grandt Line styrene windows, and more than two dozen cast metal pallets, milk cans, barrels, and crates.
Assembling the freight house is fairly easy, although the kit requires cutting your own stripwood to length. A tool like the NorthWest Short Line Chopper II comes in handy, especially when cutting 160 identical deck planks.
Cutting, gluing, painting, and weathering took me about 10 hours. The most time-consuming steps were building loading docks and adding the shingles.
This kit, based on a meticulously researched prototype, would be a great addition to a freight yard, or it could be repurposed as a small warehouse. Building it requires only a moderate skill level and produces a great-looking structure.
