Welcome to our latest Product Review video. This time around, Model Railroader Senior Editor Cody Grivno takes a look at the Broadway Limited N scale EMD F3. In the video, you’ll learn about the Lehigh Valley prototypes our samples are decorated as, get a closer look at the details on both units, see and hear the various light and sound functions, and watch the locomotives power a train on our Milwaukee, Racine & Troy State Line Route layout.

Paint schemes on the Broadway Limited N scale EMD F3 include Lehigh Valley (Cornell Red with black stripes); Atchison, Topeka & Santa Fe (passenger warbonnet); Maine Central (green and gold); Missouri Pacific (Eagle scheme); Southern Pacific (“black widow” scheme); Southern Ry. (tuxedo scheme); St. Louis-San Francisco (Frisco, black and yellow); and Union Pacific (Armour Yellow and Harbor Mist Gray).

Paragon4 and Stealth models feature a plastic body; die-cast metal chassis; and numerous prototype-specific parts, including number board style, water and sand fill hatch locations, and grab iron placement. The diesels are fitted with Magne-Matic-compatible couplers and will operate on codes 55, 70, and 80 rail.

Paragon4 models feature a dual-mode sound decoder with Rolling Thunder, back-electromotive force control, and a built-in capacitor. Stealth models have a factory-installed MTC21 pin on the direct-current motherboard and an 8-ohm speaker.

Models from the Paragon4 series are priced at $349.99 (A-B set with powered A unit and unpowered B unit) and $259.99 (Single powered A and B units). Stealth models are offered as single A and B units for $209.99 each. The F3 A and B units have a minimum operating radius of 9”.
